Boards and Commissions

Join a board or commission! The City Council relies on citizen volunteers that are appointed to the 14 different boards, commissions, and committees (BCC). Each BCC has a different purpose and some require special skills or interests. However, they all help to shape the future of the community and occasionally implement portions of adopted plans. In some cases, the different BCC's act on citizen requests associated with private property or make recommendations to the City Council. Depending on the BCC terms range between two and five years. The roster provides the existing members names and when their terms expire.

In many cases the BCC meets monthly at a set date and time, however, there are BCCs that meet less frequently or some that determine additional meetings are necessary to discuss an agenda item. Typically, membership on a BCC requires the individual to be a resident of the City of Menominee, however, there are some BCCs that allow property or business owners to be members.

If you have a willingness to voluntarily serve your community in this capacity and have a particular interest or knowledge, please contact the Administrative Assistants office. To learn more about a specific board or commission, the agenda packets and meeting minutes can be found on the website. In some instances, there is a webpage that provides additional information.
