MENOMINEE, MI – On Friday, October 6th at 10:41 PM, the Menominee Fire Department was dispatched by Menominee County 911 to a structure fire that possibly started in a storage warehouse adjacent to Resolute Forest Products located at 701 4th Ave in Menominee. Several fire departments from the City of Marinette, Menominee County, and Marinette County were also dispatched to provide mutual aid. Fire crews have been working through the night and are still managing an active scene. A Declaration of Emergency was issued by Menominee County and the Office of Emergency Management regarding the incident. Michigan EGLE was also notified of any environmental issues. No injuries were reported at his time.
The public is asked to avoid the area if necessary due to the safety of both citizens and Public Safety Responders. With the scene still active, more information will become available at a later time per Menominee Fire Chief Mark Petersen.
