NEWS RELEASE: 4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION (June 3, 2022)
With much appreciation to Jack’s Fresh Market for their generous sponsorship of the fireworks display, the City of Menominee is planning a Fourth of July celebration at Memorial Marina Park. The event will take place on Monday, July 4th.
Music in the bandshell will begin at 2 p.m. and a variety of kid’s activities will start at 6 p.m. Music will continue until the time of the fireworks at approximately 9:30 p.m. The fireworks display will take place off the marina’s outer wall.
Bandshell music is sponsored by KK Integrated Logistics and will feature Charlie Scoggins and Sandi Smith Gressels from 2 to 5 p.m. and Sunny and the Heat from 7 to 9:30 or the start of fireworks at dark.
Kid’s activities sponsored by LE Jones Company and presented by the Menominee Recreation Department will be highlighted by Mischief and Magic, who will provide face painting, balloon art, and more.
A donation from The Harbors, in memory of Steve Vandenberg, will cover the many backstage necessities that are paramount to a successful event. Steve’s hard work “backstage” at the Waterfront Festival and many other events will be sorely missed.
In addition to the events, the American Legion Post 146 will be serving hamburgers, hot dogs, and brats at the snack shack directly behind their building, starting at 1 p.m.
“I want to thank Jack’s Fresh Market and our other sponsors for making this event possible and also give a special shout-out to Menominee’s own premier fireworks crew, “Thunder on the Bay”. It’s wonderful to once again have a 4th of July celebration in Menominee”, said Mayor Jean Stegeman.
