City of Menominee Drug Drop Off Program

In 2011 a collaborative effort between the Menominee Police Department and the Healthy Youth Coalition along with a generous grant sponsored by the M&M Area Community Foundation, a Drug Drop Box was placed in the foyer at the Menominee Police Department. The impetus behind this project was to prevent prescription drug abuse, reduce drug related crimes, prevent accidental poisoning, especially in children and pets, and improve our water quality.

NEVER flush medications down the toilet. Medications flushed down the toilet are ending up in our drinking water. Water treatment facilities are not designed to remove medications. Medications are also affecting fish and other aquatic life after treatment facilities return the water to streams and rivers.
